Never A Perfect Moment
One year, three months, and twenty five days ago I launched this website with the hopes of making something out of it. With the dream of being able to write blog posts all the time and really grow Life Lived Fully rather quickly.
That’s not what happened. And I’ve learned to be ok with it.
LOOKING BACK
It’s crazy to look back and see where my journey began and where my journey has gone and where it has taken me.
My blogging journey started 3 years ago and my first blogging venture was a fail. My site ended up getting hacked and then no longer allowing me to access it outside of logging in to post blog posts, which no one else was able to see anymore. While trying to fix that, I grew frustrated and lost a little of that excitement I had at the beginning.
Then in February 2019 I finally launched this site, after months and months of planning and deliberating over it. I posted once in March and haven’t posted since.
And now here I am.
FOUR MOUTHS BEHIND
Four months seemed like a long time. Back in January of this year, I thought that I was so ready. I thought that I would start posting blogs again and finally be active on my Instagram account. But here we are four months later and starting the fifth month.
The feeling of being behind overcame me for a long time. I felt like every time I tried to start something and work towards a goal, something would happen and my goals would be completely derailed. Have you ever felt that way?
MOMENTS COUNT
Oftentimes we wait for the perfect moment to happen before we step out and do something. I did, I waited. And waited and waited and waited. But that moment never came. The thing is, a perfect moment doesn’t exist.
Every moment counts. Not because they are perfect and well crafted. They count because they are a part of our life. Making every moment count does not equal always doing something special. It’s about changing our mindset to see moments as they are: important, a part of your life, and special little recordings of history. They matter because you lived them. Use them.
LOOKING AHEAD
I have learned that no matter how hard one may try to find or create the most perfect moment, it won’t happen. Because there will always be something we’d want to change. There will always be something we wish that was different. There will always be an excuse we could create to not do something.
Looking back at my very first blog post on this site, I see a girl who is both hurt and hopeful. Looking back at my first three blog posts on this site, I see a girl who is so excited for the journey ahead of her.
Looking at myself now, I see someone who is still both hurt and hopeful, but who is also learning the true value of the life I am living. It may not be what I would have crafted and created, but it’s still valuable all the same.
STOP WAITING, START NOW
Don’t let your need for everything to be perfect stop you from starting work on a goal. Stop waiting.
The moments may not be perfect but every moment counts. We all have a journey that we travel throughout our lives.
The journey will never be perfect or always easy. But it will be worth it. If I were to give up every time it got hard, I’d never accomplish anything. There will be highs and lows, but the journey is so, so worth it. I want to share my journey with you all because there really is a beginning, there really is a starting point for every journey.
But just start somewhere.
