August, September & October 2021 Monthly Recap

I don’t know how other people write and post recaps every month. By the time the month is actually over, I feel like I literally just wrote the last recap a few days before. Like why is time flying by so fast?

HIGHLIGHTS

August & September:

Is it bad if I can’t really think of something?

October:

Getting to see my brother play college football was the best part of October. I have seen my brother play football all throughout growing up, and I have watched his college games via online. But never had I been able to see a game in person until this month. There were a lot of emotions and ups and downs throughout the game (like with any sporting event), but they won by 1 point and I couldn’t be prouder of my brother!

LIFE

August:

Big things happened in August. In the middle of the month, I moved into a new apartment with two of my sisters. And towards the end of the month, my second year at Bible college began. So a lot of life changes all at once.

September:

I tried to practice more discipline in the everyday and boy was I struggling with that. I spent September trying to get into the swing of school and learning, growing, and stretching myself at work.

October:

In October I celebrated one year with my current job. It’s crazy to think a whole year has gone by, but I honestly couldn’t be more grateful!

WATCHLIST

August:

I finished Young & Hungry and couldn’t believe how it ended! How could they leave us on such a cliff hanger?!?

But I did look up and saw that they thought the show would go on for another season, so I guess a cliffhanger like that makes sense. I would have loved to see what they would have done with the next season though.

September:

Heels Season 1

I started Heels in September but am pretty sure I finished it in October. I was super excited to see a show with two actors I love, Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, and one from one of my childhood shows, Kelly Berglund.

To be honest, it was one of those shows that didn’t always make sense because it felt like the scenes were out of order, but it kept you interested to see what happens in the end. I am interested to see what happens if there is a season two, but I don’t know yet how I feel about this show.

October:

Dune

Dune wasn’t what I expected. I loved seeing Timothee Chalamet in it, and of course he did a spectacular job. Rebecca Ferguson also did an amazing job and Zendaya was great, but wasn’t in it that much. But other than that I can’t say I enjoyed the movie. I think I just need to research more about the original story, more into the background of the movie scenes, and maybe look into the book more.

Heartland Season 13

WARNING: SPOILER!!!

I put a warning about a spoiler I mention here, so if you continue to read, it is at your own risk.

Now I will admit I heard the spoiler that Ty gets killed off and it was because of a gunshot wound, so I was expecting it to happen at the end of season 13. But it didn’t! I was prepared for it so I thought I would be able to handle it. But season 13 ends on such a happy note that I don’t know how in the world I will handle season 14.

MUSIC

August-October:

I have a playlist that is 85+ hours long and I’ve just been keeping it on shuffle.

BUSINESS

August & September:

Instagram: 94 followers, YouTube: 11 subscribers

By the end of August, I was at 95 Instagram followers, but towards the end of September I was at 94. I am so close to 100 and I am so excited to hit that landmark!

October:

Instagram: 95 followers, YouTube: 11 subscribers

I got back to 95 followers by the end of October. Of course YouTube subscribers have stayed the same, but prayerfully that will change once I get more content on there.

CHALLENGES & LOWS

August & September:

Not gonna lie, going from living alone to living with two other people has been a challenge and a learning curve. There’s a lot of adjustments and compromises, and I’m trying to see this as a learning season.

October

October was honestly a really hard month for me.

For most of the month I was filled with so much anxiety and it felt like it was out of control. The worst part was it felt normal so I didn’t always fight it. I also ended up being without phone service for a couple of weeks, which made communicating with others, staying on top of things for work, and getting directions so hard. And I was so lax on so many of my goals because of all the personal issues I was going through, and I felt like giving up on them.

THINGS I’VE LEARNED

August:

This new school year is going to be full of growth.

Going into my second year of Bible college, I knew there would be things that would challenge me. Part of our requirement to graduate is to go on a missions trip. Raising money and asking people to partner with me seems so daunting, but I know it will be worth it in the end.

September:

I think I prefer living alone.

Living with other people? Tried it, probably won’t try it again until I get married. But definitely grateful for each season and learning experience.

October:

Saying yes to myself isn’t a bad thing.

Fighting for my peace isn’t a bad thing. Fighting for my health isn’t a bad thing. Saying yes to take care of my needs isn’t wrong. Saying no to things that are not good for me, even if that includes people, is ok.

PROGRESS

September:

Super proud of myself

In the month of September, I felt like I had way more little moments to be proud of. I made different and better little decisions that I know will add up to change the more I do them. I am so proud that I started this process!

October:

Even though I had a lot of lows, I saw areas that could really use improvement that I hadn’t noticed before and hope to work on those a lot more next month.

NEXT MONTH: November 2021

  • My family will be coming to visit for Thanksgiving! Growing up we always had Thanksgiving with one of our grandparents, but for the last couple of years we’ve had it back at home. It’ll be nice to celebrate this holiday in a new place.
  • I will be participating in NaNoWriMo! Not only am I participating, but I am preparing to hit the goal you need to win, so lots of prep work is going on! If you don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, go check out my Instagram page where I talk all about it!

What are you most looking forward to in November?
